As the spouse of a Harvey fellow, I’m honored by the opportunity to give back to an organization that has significantly shaped the trajectory of my wife’s call to be a faithful witness in academia as a sociology professor.
I believe the Harvey Fellowship is at a crucial inflection point. As we celebrate 30 years of raising up Christian leaders in strategic fields, we have much to celebrate. The organization has funded Pulitzer prize winners, MacArthur geniuses, Emmy nominees, Fortune 500 CEOs, political appointees, and the list goes on.
More importantly, the Harvey fellowship has meant that Christians have been equipped in their vocational calling –– and encouraged in their faith, secular institutions have been shaped by the gospel in both day-to-day interactions and in larger, systemic ways; and, a theology of a work full of joy and rest has been embodied for generations to witness. It is truly incredible what God has produced with a Mustard seed.
God is in this work. He is the author and finisher of this chapter in our organization’s history. In this, as in everything, all we are called to be is faithful with what has been given to us –– and thanks be to God, we have been given much for which to be grateful.
For the prize set before us…
